5K30.51 - Induced EMF

Code Number:
5K30.51
Demo Title:
Induced EMF
Condition:
Excellent
Principle:
Mutual Induction, Induced EMF
Area of Study:
Electricity & Magnetism
Equipment:
Variac, coil with core, multimeter, split rings or long banana cords.
Procedure:

Connect the coil to the Variac.  Turn the Variac up to 30 or 40 and loop a single or multiple turns of the wire around the iron core.  Observe the voltage reading on the multimeter.

The wire may be replaced with one of the available split rings.  Connect the meter across the gap with alligator clips and observe the reading with the multimeter.
