Bicycle wheel with black cover over the spokes, chalk, ruler

Code Number: 1D10.40

Demo Title: Angular Velocity - Bicycle Wheel

Condition: Excellent

Principle: Angular Velocity

Area of Study: Mechanics

Equipment:

Bicycle wheel with black cover over the spokes that can be drawn on with chalk.

Procedure:

By drawing on the bicycle wheel you can show that although the angular velocity is the same through any given angle, the distance covered by an inner vs. outer radius is much different.
