3A95.22 - Compound Pendulum

Code Number: 3A95.22
Demo Title: Compound Pendulum
Condition: Good
Principle: Determining acceleration due to gravity
Area of Study: Oscillations & Acoustics
Equipment:
Compound pendulum app., knife edge support.
Procedure:
This pendulum in normally used to determine the acceleration due to gravity. The pendulum can be mounted at several different axis along its length and the period of each axis can be observed. From values of period and the length of an equivalent simple pendulum the acceleration due to gravity can be calculated.
