Code Number: 3D40.18

Demo Title: Musical Ruler - Musical Strips

Condition: Excellent

Principle: Resonance in Solids

Area of Study: Oscillations & Acoustics

Equipment:

Yard stick, resonance box with attached strips.

Procedure:

Hold the ruler at different points and let the ruler vibrate.  Listen to the different pitches corresponding to length.

The resonance box should have one octave+ of pitches.

A common hacksaw blade also makes a very good vibrating strip.
