Code Number: 7D10.12

Demo Title: Fiestaware Plate - Vaseline Glass

Condition: Excellent

Principle: Natural and Artificial Radioactive Sources

Area of Study: Modern Physics

Equipment:

Geiger counter, Fiesta-ware plate, Vaseline glass objects.

Procedure:

The Fiestaware plate is coated with Uranium Oxide which gives us the orange color.  Place the detector next to the plate and a fairly high comp rate should be heard.

Vaseline glass also has Uranium Oxide in it which is what gives it the distinctive yellow-green color.  Not only does this make the figures mildly radioactive but also will cause them to fluoresce under a UV or black light.
