Magnet Pendulums
Magnet Pendulums
 rotating oscillating magnets

Code Number: 3A70.50

Demo Title: Oscillating Magnets

Condition: Excellent

Principle: Potential to Kinetic Energy, Simple Harmonic Motion

Area of Study: Oscillations & Acoustics

Procedure:

Pin one of the magnet pendulums against an iron rod.  Set the other pendulum in motion which should continue for quite some time.

The rotating oscillating magnets will transfer energy back an forth when you start one spinning.  You can also pin one of the so that it does not spin when doing the demo.
